IMES Sheffield’s history stretches back to the mid-1950s, giving the business nearly seven decades of experience in instrumentation, weighing and control systems. The company originated as the Instrument Department of Davy United, developing force-measuring equipment for rolling mill loads. In 1960, Davy & United Instruments Ltd. became a separate company, expanding this technology into general weighing applications.
Over the following decades, the business evolved through a series of names and ownership changes: Davy Instruments Ltd. (1973), the Control & Instrumentation Division of Davy Loewy Ltd. (1981), Automation, Davy McKee (1987), Automation, Davy International, and Davy Weighing as a separate business unit (1991). Following acquisitions by Trafalgar House and then Kvaerner, Davy Weighing became part of the Imes Group in 2000. In 2004, it became Davy Systems, followed by MMES Systems. Today, in 2025, the business is part of the THREE60 Energy Group, continuing a legacy built on decades of expertise, repeat systems, spares and repairs.
